After iOS 16.1 launched last month, Apple began testing iOS 16.2, both with developers and the public enrolled in the beta program. Today the company has confirmed to The Indian Express that next week's beta version of iOS 16.2 will finally include 5G support for iPhones in India, on Airtel and Jio.
This comes after a lot of pressure from the Indian government, following the launch of 5G services in the country on October 1. Apple previously stated that the final version of iOS 16.2 will roll out to all supported devices in December.
Meanwhile, if you want to test the 5G functionality in India, you can visit the beta program website and register your device. You will then receive the current beta version, and next week you will get a new version that allows high-speed connections.
All this being said, note that this beta may have bugs and things not working in it, so if you are sensitive to that, it is best to wait for the stable release to happen next month, after all the issues will have been ironed out.
